Paisley Christmas Lights Switch On

FE Live supply for a wide number of local authority events.  Paisley is our local town, so we enjoy heading back there each year to provide audio production for the annual Christmas lights switch on, attended by over 30,000 spectators.

This event spans the entire town centre, with audio towers located at various points throughout the town.  As such, there’s a need to create a solution for the client that’s quick to set up, and that won’t interfere with the general public and transport links throughout the day.  High Powered RF point to point links provide an excellent means to get the signal transmitted around the town, where using kilometres of cable simply in’t practical.  Shure PSM1000’s transmit to Shure UHF-R receivers over PWS Helical Antennas, while Shure active antennas are used for RX. Delay points consist of Point source and Line array d&b V-Series, all powered on D80 amplifiers.

The Main stage PA consists of d&b V8’s and V12’s, while a mix of V Sub and J infra are deployed in a sub array, with d&b M4’s for wedges.  For control, a Digico SD11 was used for presenters and music playback, while a Midas Pro 2 was provided for the visiting engineers, with a Midas Pro2c for Monitors.
